Sea Glass Sunrise - Review

Sea Glass Sunrise
Written by: Donna Kauffman
Stars: Five

More Books from this Author: I Can not wait for the next book in the series to come out!

Sea Glass Sunrise was an awesome way to start out the Brides of Blueberry Cove series. I am usually drawn to stories with a small town feel and this was one of them. I enjoy the connection between family and friends in small towns, maybe because it was not something I experienced growing up.

After being completely humiliated personally and professionally, attorney Hanna McCrae is headed back to her home town of Blueberry Cove. She is back for her brother's wedding, but will soon let her family know she is home for good. Her homecoming is not as smooth as she would like though, a traffic accident leads her straight to Calder.

Calder Blue a is on his way to Blueberry Cove to learn more about a new business venture and find out how to end a 200 year old family feud. Running into Hanna was not part of the plan, but it is making him rethink his quick trip into the Cove, will it be permanent?

There was a lot going on in this novel including a wedding, an arson, family feuds, and many new characters from family to townsfolk friends. It was a little hard to keep up, but it kept the story interesting and made me not want to put the book down. It also introduced new characters that will be a part of the rest of the books in the series. I have heard that it is easier to keep up with the stories and characters if you first read the Bachelors of Blueberry Cove, which I have not have the chance to do yet.

I really enjoyed this novel and the first book I have read by this author. Getting started on the first series will be my next step before book two of Brides of Blueberry Cove come out in September.

Unbound - Colours of Love

Unbound- Colours of Love

Written by Kathryn Taylor

This novel was originally written in German and has been translated.

I received Unbound-Colors of Love  from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Warning: Rated M for mature. There is definitely some steamy content in this book.

Grace is a 22 year old majoring in Economics at the University of Chicago. She has led a sheltered life, has not really had any serious relationships, and is unsure of herself at times. All this is about to change because she has been given a chance of a lifetime, traveling to England to begin her 3 month internship at Huntington Ventures Company. Here she meets her future boss Jonathan Huntington. Everyone has warned Grace to stay away from Jonathan and the world that he lives in, but she just can't seem to help herself.

Johnathan Huntington also known as the "Hunter" has built his empire at Huntington Ventures and leads a very secretive life. He is dark, demanding, rich, comes from royalty, but in no means is he prince charming. Jonathan makes it very clear that he is not looking for a relationship, will not offer his love to any woman and treats Grace very cold.

Grace first runs into Jonathan while arriving at the airport in London, there are immediately sparks between the two. Grace settles into her apartment, makes a few friends, and enjoys her first day of work. Then as a surprise to the whole company Grace is invited to work alongside Jonathan and shadow him throughout the day. During the internship desires are heightened and they give into each other. The affair becomes steamy and not just in the bedroom. This novel does not end happily ever after though we are actually left with a huge cliffhanger.

There were many mixed reviews on this novel, but I loved the book and cannot wait for the next part to come out. I have to admit it was confusing the way Jonathan treats Grace and the relationships that he does have in his life, he seems like one damaged man, but a very hot one lol. Many have compared this novel to 50 Shades of Gray, the story sounds familiar, but since I never got around to reading it I am not able to make any connections. If you enjoy very mature/ adult content and a little bit of mystery there is not doubt you will fall in love with Unbound - Colours of Love.  Not to mention all the steamy scenes that will leave you fanning yourself.

So This is Love - Book Review

So This is Love - Barbara Freethy

I finally made it through the second book in the Callaway series. I was hoping to finish the collection, but as you all know it is not as easy as it used to be now that Ms. Lexi keeps me running around all day. Not to mention I have also been out of the loop for the last few weeks. Me and Ms. Lexi have been visiting the family in Cali and will be back in Mexico shortly and hopefully back into our routine. It has been a little rough being off course and not up to date with my new blog.

So here goes...

Former firefighter Emma Callaway is now doing what she loves and is best at, being a San Fransisco fire investigator. She is smart, fearless, and willing to do what it takes to prove that she earned the position she was given, that it was not just handed to her because of her family. Emma has just been put on a case in her home town, to figure out who has been targeting the firefighting community and her. It will not be easy though, especially since she must work alongside Homicide detective Max Harrison. Max is quiet, likes to work alone, and enjoys pushing Emma's buttons. It is clear that they have tension, but that tension quickly turns into attraction and affection.

Even though Emma has just gotten out of a very ugly relationship and Max has a very negative outlook on love there is just no putting out the sparks between them. Barbara does such a good job with these characters, it is easy to relate to them and their real life problems. I also loved keeping up with the Callaway family and characters Sara and Aiden from book one.

There is such a good mixture of romance, laughter, suspense and mystery in this novel. We get to see the budding relationship between Max and Emma while trying to figure out who the arsonist is, and how they will be stopped. If you decided to check out the Callaway Series you will not be sorry.

On a Night Like This - Book Review

On a Night Like This

Written by Barbara Freethy, On a Night Like This, has become my new favorite read. Barbara is a New York Times Best Selling Author, she has written 40 novels and sold over 4.5 million ebooks. Barbara is currently working on her family series, The Callaways which I can not wait to complete.

I had actually never heard of this author before, but was lucky to be chosen to read and review books from this newly released series. After completing the first book I am proud to say I am a fan and will add all books from Barbara Freethy to my must reads. I greatly enjoy the combination of romance, family and mystery Barbara includeded in her novels.

The sweet and innocent girl next door is back in town,  Sara has fought hard to toughen up her outer shell by becoming a New York city lawyer, but she is back home and to where she was once rejected by not only her father but her first love. Even though she has a nice home and career back in New York something is still missing.  After losing her mother as a teenager Sara wants to have a family which is with her only living relative. The only person that has chosen not to love her, her dad.  While back in town she runs into Aiden, the boy across the street who once broke her heart. Only Aiden is no longer that young boy she fell for. Will she be able to keep her distance and save herself from another heartache?

Aiden, a fire jumper has always been a risk taker and tried to keep up the the high standards of the rest of the tight knit Callaway clan who all happen to work in the firefighting community. Since he was little Aiden has always found himself in trouble and now is no different, his best friend is dead and everyone is looking to him for answers, if only he could recall what happened. Without many memories of how the whole thing played out Aiden must figure out what happened without ruining the reputation of his best friend. While in town Aiden finds Sara, and even though he is willing to jump out of a plane for work any day Aiden does not take so many risks when it comes to falling in love.

Barbara did a fantastic job with this story, it was so easy to fall in love with all the characters. There was also a good mixture of love, mystery, and backstory to the Callaway Family.  By the end I was looking forward to finding out more about the next family member and finding out who has been setting up fires all around town. I highly recommend this Novel to anyone who likes a nice romantic read with a little hint of mystery.

Pinterest Favorite's

I am a big Pinterest fan and I thought I would share some of my favorites pics from this week. Since I live in a small town there are not many items available to me that I would be able to just pick up at the store like in the states. So many of my pins are just that, items that I dream of making, or wearing, or creating for my baby girl. So here goes... and if anyone else wants to share a blog post of their favorites, leave a link to your blog here so we can all share in the fun.

Grilled Ginger-Sesame Chicken Chopped Salad | Cooking Classy

Food
Grilled-Ginger Sesame Chicken Chopped Salad
This yummy looking salad was created by Cooking Classy. I know it might sound weird, but man have I been craving a good salad. We of course have lettuce available to us here in Jalisco, but not a lot of variety of dressings. Good thing this salad has a dressing that I would be able to create all by myself. The best part of this salad is that it not only looks tasty, but is healthy for you too.

DIY Sand Impressions Keepsake

Not your normal hand or footprint keepsake. I ran across this cute idea  this week and found out all about it over at Paging Fun Mums with Louis and Jenni. I was thinking I should do something like this for the hubby before Ms. Lexi gets any bigger. Great job girls cant wait to check out your blog a little more and share your great ideas.

cherry layer cakeDessert

This pin of Cherry Layer Cake comes from Laura's Sweet Spot, I saw this pic and could not keep my mouth from watering. Maybe it is because I have been trying to eat better this week, but either way it looks de-lish. If you decide to visit Laura's page you will find that she has now moved on to her new blog The Green Forks where she is making healthier choices in her life and is once again sharing her recipes with all of us.

Healthy

apple cookieApple Cookies, these yummy looking snacks can be found at Rachel Schultz. Now I have to admit I am not the biggest Peanut butter fan, but I think I would have to try these out.

Crafty

I found a pin for this awesome looking bird bath. It was actually put together by Debbie over at Me and My DIY by using old DVD's. I thought she did a great job and that it looks so beautiful. I was even thinking this same idea could be used for other things such as mirrors or picture frames. Very cool.

Hair Bow Day

So I have mentioned before that I love crafts and to try new things. So I decided that I would try my hand at making hair bows and headbands for little girls. Well I wish I could say that all this work was done in one day, but with my little one running around, whining from teething, and keeping me busy all day everyday these bows were completed over a few weeks.
The people here in the small town of Jalisco where we live are all about blinging out baby. I have seen some gigantic headbands that are actually bigger than the poor baby's head. I started out making cute little bows, but figured that I better go big and add some sparkle or if when I got the courage to sell them they would not go quickly or even at all.
So here are a few examples of my work let me know what you think, are they worthy of being sold?
Any tips or ideas?

Liebster Award

Last Week I was nominated by Travel the Unbeaten Path for a Liebster Award. I am so excited that I was chosen because I have now made a new friend and hope to make many more and connect more mommies together.

A Liebster award is passed around the blogging community to support, encourage and get to know each other and our growing blogs. Here’s how it works: I answer 11 questions posed to me by the person who nominated me. Then, I nominate 11 other bloggers who have less than 200 followers and ask them 11 new questions. I let them know via social media. Then, they thank and link me, and do the same!

My Answers:

1. How did you come up with your blog’s name?
In the last four years I have made a lot of changes in my life from moving  to a new country, getting married, and having a baby. There are a lot of adventures I've had and lessons I've learned and I thought that sharing all these transitions in my life with others would help me connect with other moms out there.

2. Of all the posts you wrote until now, which one is your most favorite and why? (Add a link!)
Well I only have four so far lol, so lets see I guess it would be the A Little Bit About Me page. It made me look at my life again and think about the things I do have, and to remember to appreciate those thing. Also to look back at the person I was before and the relationship me and hubby had before, it will be nice to get back to that person I once was and try and get back the romance me and hubby once had lol. It is easy to forget about everything else in get stuck in an every day rut.

3. What's one of your favorite personal qualities/characteristics?
I like to give to others. It is always nice to be able to give and do things for others and watch them smile and be filled with happiness.

4. What's your love language?
I would have to say either gift giving or acts of services.

5. Are you a planner? Or are you spontaneous?
I like to believe that I am a planner. I like to know what's going on so I can be prepared for what coming. Then again I think I would be ready at any moment to get out of the house and take a road trip or travel somewhere if the chance came up. This was one thing I loved as a kid, my dad would wake us up one day and say get dressed we are leaving and we would be going on some big adventure for the day or weekend.

6. What is your idea of a perfect trip?
Being able to travel with my whole family together. I usually have to travel back to the states alone, and now I have Lexi to take with me, but I would like to go pretty much anywhere with my baby girl and my hubby at the same time. Having enough money would help out too lol.

7. Who's a source of inspiration for you?
I have to tell you just getting back into blogging and meeting all you great mommies out there on sites such as Mom Bloggers Club and The Best Mom Blogs has been such an inspiration for me. It is so nice to find you ladies who are able to do it all and still come home or stay at home with your kids and still keep it together. I don't feel so alone in the process anymore. So Thank You!

8. What is your favorite quote and by whom?
"Try not to take thing personally. What people say about you is a reflection of them not you."
This is one thing I must remind myself of daily.

9. What's one piece of advice you are tired of hearing from others?
I got a lot of advice when I was preggers, but the one thing I could not stand hearing any more was "don't worry the morning sickness only last a few months, it will get go away soon." Well let me tell you it didn't. From the moment I found out I was prego till the moment Ms. Lexi was born I was sick as a dog.

10. And what's one that you would like to share.
"It will get better soon" The first year of raising my lil girl was not the easiest especially since she was born with acid reflux, I thought I would never sleep again in my life. I remember crying everyday and my aunt margo always telling me don't worry "It will get better soon" over and over, and it was hard to believe but it did get better. So far all you new mommies out there remember this one thing.

11. What's your guiltiest pleasure?
Eating chocolate. I never really like chocolate before Ms. Lexi arrived, but now at times I feel like I just need that chocolate fix.

Here are the questions for my nominees:

1. If you could make a movie what would it be about?

2.Do you consider yourself frugal or a big spender?

3.Name four things on your bucket list.

4. What do you do to de-stress?

5. How many children do you have? Anymore, or were you planning for this many?

6. What at home chore do you absolutely hate doing?

7. Most embarrassing moment with your child.

8. One thing you always said you would never do when you had kids.

9. Whats you favorite childhood tradition? Do you continue this with your kids.

10. If you could only visit one website daily what would it be?

11. Are you content?

Here are the lucky nominees :
